When Erin was 15 weeks old we started taking her swimming once a week, but as soon as she was undressed she would start hacking at various parts of her body, which was making the whole swimming idea a non starter. We were constantly applying creams including prescribed hydrocortisone, but we were always limited on what we could apply and where due to broken skin, healing wounds and freshly scratched sites. Even when changing a nappy or giving her a bath we could not take our eyes off her for even 10 seconds as she would flay the skin off a leg or arm, sometimes leaving deep gashes.

During one of Erin’s swimming classes the instructor mentioned that she had a friend with a son with much the same problem, and that they were trying a set of self produced sleeved mittens. The instructor mentioned Erin’s problems to Max’s mum and before we knew it we were very kindly offered a couple of sets of the ‘Scratch Sleeves’ to try. They were an instant success and Erin’s skin improved dramatically within one week and without any fresh scratches, the creams we were applying were also much more successful. A few weeks later and Erin’s face and neck were completely healed and with the scratching habit almost broken, she has not scratched her head, face and neck since. This really lifted our spirits and we could now see some light in the future.

We used the ‘Scratch Sleeves’ through the day and at night which gave Erin the freedom to move about the cot, as she was now getting older and starting to roll over and shuffle around. In all we used the mitts for about 5 ½ months, probably a bit longer than we needed, but we had some bad habits to break and they did exactly what we required.

Erin is now approaching her first birthday and almost never scratches anymore.

In summary, the Scratch Sleeves were a complete god send and fantastically successful. Erin became a much happier baby within days and for that alone I cannot thank Max's mum and her ScratchSleeves enough. I would happily pay much, much more for what they have done for my wife and I, but most importantly for Erin.

I researched extensively for alternative solutions and tried many, but nothing came close to alleviating and ultimately breaking the problems of infantile eczema and the associated scratching cycle. ScratchSleeves still allowed a great deal of freedom for Erin to play with toys, roll around, crawl and do everything a normal baby expects to do during those early months. I most strongly recommend them to anyone that has an infantile eczema problem and I have no doubt they will become as indispensible as they were for us.

Utterly and thoroughly delighted from the moment we received them to the moment we stopped using them.
